Eastney Naturists

Campaigning to Save the Beach

Latest News:

This site is no longer being maintained and is here (mostly) for historical purposes.  I believe there is an active group on Facebook.  The Eastney Naturists Campaign was mostly wound up with the withdrawal of QinetiQ’s planning application and the revocation of that outline Planning Consent in March 2011.

May 2019:  There’s a fresh planning application for 134 dwellings – the reference is 19/00420/FUL and can be viewed at Portsmouth City Council’s Planning website at: http://publicaccess.portsmouth.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=POD024MO0BJ00

The deadline for making an objection to the proposed development is 17th June – quite a tight deadline!

QinetiQ have seemingly sold the Fraser Range site, overlooking Eastney Beach.   QinetiQ’s latest planning application for widening the access road (with no details of the scale of development of the site) was turned down last year.  On the face of it, it seems that QinetiQ have given up on trying to develop the site themselves and have instead moved the whole thing on to professional developers rather than have another go themselves.

The new developers, National Regional Property Group, hosted a public exhibition of their plans for the site on 6th Feb at the Cockleshell Community Centre, Henderson Rd, Eastney, Portsmouth PO4 9SJ

The beach is still being well used by the public Send your beach reports to info@eastneybeach.org.uk

This site is for anyone interested in the continued Naturist use of Eastney Beach (Portsmouth, Hampshire, UK). Our objective is to ensure that any potential redevelopment, of the disused MoD site (Fraser Range) behind the beach, does not threaten the continued use of Eastney Beach by the public and by naturists. Image of Eastney Our flag   The old Radar Research centre at  Fraser Range doesn’t make the most attractive of pictures, but the view from the beach out to the Eastern Solent and the Isle of Wight is glorious and more than makes up for it! And it’s quiet, with little passing traffic, making it ideal for naturists… Eastney Beach has been used by Naturists for decades. The beach was threatened when QinitiQ put forward a planning application, in 2005, to redevelop the site into high rise blocks of flats – that planning application has since been withdrawn.  View the old home page for some of the history
